No click tracks. No backing tracks. Mines are putting their live sound on record

If you want to know what Manchester prog-metal band Mines actually sound like without the studio safety net, their first live album should give you a pretty good answer.

Mines I arrives on 23 October, capturing eight tracks from the band’s first two years - all performed live with no backing tracks and no click tracks.

Rather than recording at a gig, Mines set up in their own studio space on one extremely warm Sunday in August 2025 and played through material spanning their early catalogue.

That includes songs from their self-titled debut EP and follow-up Nous, as well as singles including “Hex” and “Sanguine Lines”.

For a band whose music moves between heavy riffs, progressive metal and the more expansive side of alternative rock, stripping away the usual live safety nets feels like a pretty good way of showing what they can actually do.

The album also works as a snapshot of how quickly Mines have developed since forming in Manchester in 2024, bringing together everything from the sprawling “Compass” and “Within Without” to heavier cuts including “The Doctrine” and “From That Which Lies Beneath”.

If Mines have passed you by so far, Mines I could be a very good place to catch up.
