There could also be a second festival entrance, new camping areas and a cosplay competition, while more instalment tickets are being released for fans.
Adam Gregory and Vicky Hungerford shared plans for Bloodstock 2027 during a Facebook and Instagram livestream on 29th October.
Bloodstock 2027 isn't getting any bigger in terms of capacity, but parts of the festival could look very different next summer.
Adam Gregory and Vicky Hungerford revealed a number of changes during a Facebook and Instagram Live on Thursday evening (29th October), including a secret bar, the return of comedy and plans to transform part of Midgard into a new entertainment village.
There was also news about camping, a possible second entrance and another chance for fans to spread the cost of their tickets.
Midgard could be getting a Mad Max-inspired village
If you've ever spent a night in Midgard, you'll know it's already one of Bloodstock's liveliest campsites. Now the organisers want to take its entertainment area a step further.
Adam described plans for a village inspired by the post-apocalyptic world of Mad Max, with shipping containers, bars, shops, fire features and other attractions creating a new space for fans to explore.
The proposal would expand the area currently used for activities, bringing more of the entertainment together in one place. Existing favourites, including bin jousting, would remain.
Don't start planning your Thunderdome outfit just yet, though. Adam made it clear that the idea is still being developed, and the finished result could look quite different from what they're imagining now.
The organisers are also looking for suggestions from fans about what they'd like to see.
New camping areas and a possible second entrance
The proposed village would take up some of Midgard's existing camping space, but that could be balanced by opening up additional fields elsewhere on the site.
Adam explained that the landowner has identified further areas near and beyond the Kyrr campsite that could be brought into use.
More interestingly for anyone who's had to haul their camping gear across the festival grounds, the team is considering a second car park and entrance.
Instead of everybody arriving through the same checkpoint, fans could potentially park and collect their wristbands at an entrance closer to their chosen campsite.
The aim is to make arrival easier without moving the main arena, which would remain in its current position.
These arrangements are still proposals, and there's no final layout to share yet. Adam and Vicky also confirmed that Bloodstock's licensed capacity will remain at 20,000, so the plans aren't about squeezing more people into the festival.
A secret bar is coming, and comedy is returning
One addition the organisers were happy to confirm is a secret bar.
They're keeping its location and most of the details under wraps, but it won't be a tiny drinking spot hidden in a corner. Adam and Vicky described a substantial bar with its own activities and surprises.
It'll be open to everyone without an additional admission charge, although you'll have to work out where it is.
Comedy is also returning to Bloodstock after requests from fans. The current plan is to have comedians performing on Friday and Saturday, possibly on the EMP Stage, with another entertainment idea being developed for Thursday night.
There's also talk of introducing a proper cosplay competition in the Battle Arena, potentially with guest judges. That idea hasn't been finalised, but Adam and Vicky are keen to hear from people involved in cosplay about how it could work.
One thing that definitely won't return is the fairground. Vicky said the organisers have decided to keep the rides out, leaving more space for other activities.
More instalment tickets available as Bloodstock nears 80% sold out
There's some welcome news if you're planning to attend but haven't bought your ticket yet.
Vicky revealed that Bloodstock 2027 is already approaching 80% sold out. The original instalment ticket allocation disappeared quickly, but the festival has listened to fans who said they needed a few more paydays before committing.
A limited number of weekend tickets will therefore be available on a six-month instalment plan from 9am on Friday 30th October.
A small number of VIP 'Patch of Grass' camping packages will also become available at the same time. Adam explained that these have been freed up by adjusting existing VIP allocations, rather than increasing the festival's capacity.
Day tickets will go on sale later, although the organisers may adjust the number available depending on how many weekend tickets are sold.
More to come for Bloodstock 2027
There were a few other updates during the livestream.
The festival's art gallery will return, with new exhibits and limited edition artwork planned. Metal 2 The Masses is also getting underway for another year, with bands encouraged to apply through their regional competitions.
For fans requiring accessible facilities, applications for certain weekend provisions have been temporarily paused because of high demand. Accessible parking, toilet access and queue assistance can still be requested while the team processes existing applications.
With Mercyful Fate, Electric Callboy and Motionless In White already confirmed as headliners, the music lineup is taking shape. But it's clear that the organisers are also putting considerable thought into what happens around the stages.
Some of these ideas are still a long way from being confirmed, and Adam and Vicky were careful (most of the time) not to promise too much.
Still, a secret bar, more entertainment and a potentially easier arrival experience sound like changes worth keeping an eye on.
Bloodstock Open Air 2027 takes place at Catton Park, Derbyshire, from 5th–8th August.
